I use it every single day of my professional life and it has never let me down, even when I have been managing PDF documents of up to 30,000 pages. It works seamlessly across Mac and iPad, fully Dropbox/OneDrive integrated on the iPad and (as is the case with Macs generally) just works. It lacks some of the critical features, but it is a pleasure to use. PDF Expert is far smoother, quicker and appears more polished. It's slower to scroll, manoeuvre through the document and operate the software. It has better search tools and better annotation tools.

It has OCR and electronic page labelling, which PDF Expert doesn't currently have (rumour is that OCR is on the way, but that's been their standard position for well over a year). There is absolutely no doubt, Adobe has far FAR more features. In a standoff between Adobe and PDF Expert, it comes down to what you want. The features aren't as rich as either PDF Expert or Adobe. My overall impression was that it was a little clunky.

I can't speak to PDF Pen completely: I have used a trial version, but not the full version. This is an area on which I can speak with some degree of authority. For work, I often navigate huge PDF documents, often many thousands of pages a day. Apple dropped the ball big time.Heavy PDF user here.

Now Apple has a mediocre upgrade to Tiger and nobody cares and Snow Leopard is the new Vista of OSX. Their move to BSD was smart, but not porting to full blown PC hardware was idiotic.

Too expensive, too closed, too little software and versatility. In the age of free software Apple is the still the elite choice with a tiny market share. Apple wants the push high profit margins on it's users and that makes them a failure as a software maker. If apple would get it's head out of it's ass and make their OS work on more hardware they'd have a much stronger market, but they refuse. If you want a simple fool proof computer OSX is a good choice. For the average family looking to buy a family PC Windows is the clear winner, especially Windows 7.

Really it's useless to compare OSX to Windows because Windows does so much more. It's simple and it does what it does well, but that's all that it does. OSX is the OS of old people and people who don't really like computer that much. OSX is great for people with very set and focused PC uses, but if you want the cutting edge software and hardware there is no other option but PC. Yea and you pay twice as much for an OS than can't run but 1/10 of the software as MS.
